159. E is for English ivy

English Ivy, Hedera helix
When we lived in Montreal,  I actually bought a pot of English ivy as a houseplant.

Here in Vancouver, English ivy is a very invasive plant and a serious threat in the garden.

It can be lovely, as Roger says, and of course its invasiveness depends on the climate. In cold climates, it is a very nice houseplant, because it is pretty.

I have one plant up north that I twine around a garden stake. I do have to watch it though so it doesn't do some traveling.

What a pretty picture of the English ivy.

It's very interesting, I didn't know the plant's name, and I think it would be beautiful in a vase. But as you said, it's a problem for gardeners in Vancouver.

I guess the milder weather allows it to grow rampantly in your area! I can hardly grow it here in my pat of Ontario.
