The Asian malls are decorated for Chinese New Year.  A great way to enjoy the festivities is to visit the malls in Richmond, BC to experience the sights, sounds and taste of this special time.  Richmond is part of the Greater Vancouver Regional District and is accessible by public transport.  Take the Canada Line to Aberdeen station and you are right there.

Happy New Year!

The beaches are a lovely aspect about living in Vancouver, BC.

If a visitor only has a few hours in the city, I would say forget about sightseeing.  Just head to the beach at Kitsilano.  Jericho beach is a good destination, especially for bird lovers.

017. T is for Totem

G’psgolox totem pole returns home after 77 years

Welcoming ceremony at the Museum of Anthropology, University of British Columbia

April 26, 2006
The G’psgolox totem pole is in the glass cabinet on the floor.

"The Haisla totem pole began its epic journey on 23 March, from the Museum of Ethnography in Stockholm. It travelled by road to the Swedish port of Gothenburg, where it was wheeled on board the roro decks of the cargo vessel Maersk Wind for its four-week, 9103-mile sea journey via the Panama Canal to the port of Tacoma, Washington, where it was then loaded onto a truck for a 141-mile trip to Vancouver."

Everyone should visit The Museum of Anthropology. Locals and tourists alike. It is a gem.

The MOA is a place of world arts and culture.  Its strength is the art and culture of British Columbia.

Plan to spend a day there.  Pack a lunch and enjoy it at the beach.  You'll have a great day!

001. First photo meme

An aquabus

The rainbow-coloured boat that resembles a bathtub toy is a water taxi. Water taxis take locals, commuters and tourists from downtown Vancouver, across False Creek to Granville Island - a very enjoyable way to travel in the city.

Happy Thanksgiving!
