266. B is for Banyan tree

Banyon tree, F. macrophylla in Reggio Calabria, Italy

In India, the Banyan tree is a sacred tree.  It is the tree of knowledge and tree of life.

It is the tree that fulfills all your wishes.  So let us pray for peace and harmony in this world.  That the hungry be fed.

The Banyan tree also has medicinal properties.

I LOVE Banyan trees. Their roots and branches make such a great mirror of each other. Most of our tree roots in Chicago are underground.

Wow this tree is huge and I don't know if Banyan tree is similar to Acacia tree in the Philippines. As far as I remember the Spaniards brought those tree to the Philippines. Because it's rare to find those tree there. And it make my heart sad when I found out that one of these acacia tree in our city is cut off why they do that is beyond me. Love trees they help us a lot!!
